Résumé

Any tourist, traveler, Western business person or English teaching expat can attest to the occasional challenge ordering food in Taiwan. Unless you're in a fancy restaurant or pointing at a picture of a hamburger at McDonalds, you may find it difficult to figure out exactly what you're going to get, or to get what you really want. This mini food dictionary and phrase book aims to make the process somewhat less confusing.
Taiwan has a lot to offer in terms of local cuisine and delicacies. Use the final section in this little guide to explore local tastes. You can even point to the Chinese characters to make sure you end up with the right item!

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Brand Smit

Brand Smit is a freelance writer, part-time teacher and since 2006, master of a wide variety of websites. Born in Pretoria in 1971, Brand traversed South Africa with his family for the next 15 years. He graduated from high school in 1989, as fate would have it, back in Pretoria. He then continued his training for life as a productive adult at the University of Pretoria, before heading south a year later.
After five years of learning and thinking he followed the only path that seemed reasonable after thinking about it. Two years in South Korea had him yearning for the country of his birth. He returned, worked in Johannesburg for six months, then left again - this time for the shores of the beautiful island of Taiwan. He has called the southern port city of Kaohsiung home ever since.
