Résumé

Early 1900s Anglo-Saxon society redirects Angela's life. Minimally daunted by hardship, a fiery character based on a real Texas woman faces obstacles with gritty conviction while struggling to reach a near impossible dream on the land of her murdered father. A huge silver wolf's unconditional love manifests and rules him to battle until bloody during harrowing encounters when the devoted alpha defends her land, avenges his family, saves her, her home, and the granddaughter for whom Angela leaves a great legacy.
Angela's story begins with looking for ways to put food on the table for herself and two teenage sons. One night as she carries a heavy load of bottles across the rough Texas terrain, a wolf pack viciously attacks her. Surprisingly, one wolf comes to her rescue. Could he be the defenseless, stray pup befriended years earlier by Angela and her sons? For decades grim realities combine with spirits and endless devotion which deepen Angela and Moonshiner's relationship.
EXCERPT: "Tension grows each time Angela abruptly turns, suspiciously observing the pup's obedience: instantly his eyes meet hers. He dares not make a wrong move. She kneels next to him. With quick fingers, she rigidly points toward him, taps his nose, raises her forefinger to her lips and whispers, 'Stay silent, little stalker.' He remains quiet, unafraid, unlike before. On this trip he studies her every motion with his intelligent eyes, eyes she believes in.
From the kneeling position, she takes a quick aim. After steady release of the arrow, it thumps into the buck. From this moment, the pup learns to step toward fallen prey to lick dribbling, tasty fluid. Angela pulls her filleting knife and with a strong stomach plunges the knife in and field dresses the deer, packing only delectable sections into the knapsack. By the time she completes the task, the pup has had his fill of meat.
Weighed down with back quiver, bow, lantern, water, and sack stuffed with deer, all over her shoulder, she bends down to lift the bloody-snouted pup above her head, wriggling him as one would a child. And so, without objection, he allows her to cradle him during the two miles back to the cabin while he dotes on cuddles and whispers of love."

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Nancy Reil Riojas

Throughout each of our lives, stories continuously happen around us. Expressing them on paper thrills me, but presenting the book to you with grace and clarity is in itself another story. Authors share a great challenge of maintaining your attention, never an easy task, hence, my goal is to move your heart. Please take a minute to let us know your impression. Thank you so much. From San Antonio, Texas and after decades of a successful career in real estate, I embarked on a new career, writing, which simmered for forty years until life's duties came to a halt.
Most of the short novels, novellas, and short stories are inspired by true events and take place in Texas settings. I attempt to keep my writing style clear and direct which can be enjoyed from the young to the old. In several books I provide Texas facts with violent self defense battles and natural disasters as well as moving, emotional struggles then combine them with moral fortitude. By curbing the reading time of the books to no longer than the length of a long movie, the intent is to spark interest in individuals who dislike reading.

"Very good story. Great main character, and others too. Well written, captivating, and exciting. Harsh reality mixed with ghostly spirits and unconditional, eternal love." "This book helps us to understand two things: One, life is about the realization that if you know something has to be done, be self-reliant and do it, which in turn creates a strong sense of worth.
And two, for some of us it can be difficult to know others as deeply as we might like to, especially those we love the most. Be good to those you love so you can live with them afte...
