Résumé

AWARD-WINNING ARCHEOLOGICAL THRILLER.  "Shivers ran down my spine." "I literally held my breath." "The writing is unusual and beautiful, and I can see why this won an award."Egypt, 18th Dynasty. Queen Tiye, the mother of Tutankhamun, prepares to die. She tells her brother: "When my time is come, you will bury me in a bath of restorative oils. It will be done while the breath of life is still in me." Cairo Museum, 1983.
Rika Teferi is studying a papyrus written by Queen Tiye when she discovers hidden writing. Aching to see more, Rika agrees to let visiting geologist, David Chamberlain, smuggle out the papyrus to scan it with specialized equipment. The results are stunning. They re-write Egypt's history and reveal the bizarre circumstances of Tiye's last days. Rika, who feels a spiritual bond with Tiye, resolves with David to search for Tiye's final resting place.
Their quest takes them deep into the Sudanese desert, where unimaginable discoveries and unforeseen perils turn their worlds upside down. READERS love the windows into Queen Tiye's time, the beauty of the African deserts, the endearing sidekicks: Hagazy, David's young Egyptian driver, and Blue, the Australian "wild man, " as well as the action-packed pace."WHAT A WONDERFUL READ! History mingled with imagination! I was on the edge of my chair at times and filled with wonder too!" -Kindle CustomerPAPYRUS was a SEMI-FINALIST in the Amazon's First Breakthrough Novel Award Competition.

À propos des auteurs

John has spent much of his life overseas, beginning in 1966 with two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal. His time in the Himalayan kingdom immersed him in a culture of Hindu gods and Buddhist monks, gave him breathtaking opportunities to trek into the high mountains, reduced him to a scrawny 150 pounds, and ignited his passion for foreign lands. On the last day of his service there, in a palace converted to a hotel, he married Dorothy Zeller, the lady who is still his wife.
After Nepal, John and Dorothy went to graduate school at UCLA, received PhDs in geology, and spent their next three years working in Australia. They traveled extensively by Land Cruiser through the harsh beauty of the Outback and, on occasion, spent hours winching or digging out their vehicles from "sticky" situations. Several Australian colleagues provided inspiration for characters in THE BRINGER OF FIRE.
Upon returning to the United States, John went to work for a major oil company, first in research, then in international exploration. The latter took him to about fifty countries and fueled his writing with quirky characters, exotic settings, and cultural contrasts. While working in Egypt, he spotted a potential way to break into the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The break-in is now portrayed in a chapter of PAPYRUS.
His experiences in the remote highlands of Venezuela led to TEPUI. While living in London, he became interested in the business and culture of perfumes, an interest he was able to nourish while accompanying Dorothy on her annual working sojourns in Paris. A result of this good fortune is APHRODESIA. A pre-Christmas trip to Prague sparked ideas for EX LIBRIS. John has an abiding love of animals, strong interests in art, history, and science, and a hunger for challenging experiences.
Writing gives him a chance to combine all of these into page-turners that keep readers thinking long after they finish the final chapter
