I call the 30s your "compression" years because everything in your life compresses financially during this decade. Most of us will get married, have kids, climb the corporate ladder, and buy a home. We will also try to save for retirement and our kids' college education. We must become investors during our 30s, no matter how little capital we have. Our main goal is to learn strategies to leverage stocks, bonds, and options successfully. If you have $5, 000 in your account on January 1st, you should know ways to turn it into $6, 000 by December 31st-regardless of how the markets perform.
