Louis-Gabriel Guillemain (1705-1770) was born in Paris and entered the court orchestra of Versailles as a violinist in 1737. As a composer he was influenced by Corelli and apparently self-taught. This "Chasse" comes from Jean-Baptiste Cartier's compendium "L'Art du violin" (1798). Hunt pieces of this type were very common in eighteenth-century French violin music. Louis-Gabriel Guillemain (1705-1770) wurde in Paris geboren und war seit 1737 als Geiger in der Hofkapelle in Versailles tätig. Als Komponist war er von Corelli beeinflusst und anscheinend sein eigener Lehrmeister. Die "Chasse" ist von Jean Baptiste Cartier's Sammelwerk "L'art du violon", 1798 entnommen. Es ist der 3. Satz von Guillemains Sonate op. 11, No. 1, 1742. Jagdstücke dieser Art waren in der französischen Violinmusik des 18.
Jahrhunderts weit verbreitet. Besetzung : violin and basso continuo
