Résumé

When you're a part of the Disney Studio family, life is anything but ordinary. Cathy's father was George Sherman, Head of Publications at Walt Disney Studios from the late 1950s to 1974. He was in charge of comic books. When Disney foreign representatives came to town, they would visit this "typical American family, " and would be escorted by them to Disneyland. Mr. Sherman died of a rare cancer when only 45, and his daughter now has the same disease.
In the interim, however, Mrs. Sherman bought a sailboat with the intention of sailing to the South Seas. Things did not go as planned (ask the resident whale!). Cathy later had a journey of her own to Europe--along with the journeys of the soul that have allowed her to face her father's old foe with courage. Nothing, however, could compare to the sweet, wonderful memories of those years as a Disney Studio family.

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Cathy Freeman

Cathy Sherman Freeman was born in the 1950s, one short block from Disney Studios, where her father was Head of Publications. Her childhood involved entertaining Disney foreign representatives who'd traveled to Burbank. They were the "Typical American Family" and escorted their guests to Disneyland. Cathy grew up with a great respect for all cultures and core values based on Disney ideals with a comic book twist.
She attended Colorado College for two years as an English major before traveling to Europe for nine months. She transferred to the University of California, San Diego, and graduated magna cum laude in theatrical design. Her first job, as a lighting technician, was at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. There she met her husband and stayed. They combined their artistic skills and for thirty years have worked side-by-side as graphic designers in an art studio to the side of their house.
They were two parents "home" to raise two smart, imaginative and sarcastic children.
