The description of witchcraft and the magical elements of the story were also very cinematically realized and exciting to read about.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Aisling: In the Land of Wolves as a promising start to an enthralling fantasy trilogy and I can't wait to see what happens next. The first-person narration gave a clear view of what went through Aisling's mind with each new challenge.
I share Aisling's view that her mother's fixation with witchcraft left her vulnerable and neglected. The smooth transitions from one event to another were easy to follow and provided a basic timeline. The details were vivid, especially with the surroundings in the forest. I could imagine the lush foliage and walking along the paths winding through the trees. The detailed descriptions of the different mythical creatures were fascinating.

The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The role-players were well-developed and authentic. My favorite character was Aisling. She started as a teenager who was bullied and became a fearless and self-assured woman. The story was brilliantly written, and it exceeded my expectations by far.
