On each of the next six days, another child is born. By virtue of their birth, the seven become known as the Miracles. Each Miracle develops a magical power; each one except Leah, the first born. When Leah is seventeen, she receives an ominous message from the other world. The Miracles must journey to Alcatraz and stop what is going to happen on the next anniversary of The Incident, a day which just happens to be Leah's eighteenth birthday.
Otherwise, the world as they know it will cease to exist. There are just a few problems with that. Alcatraz lies five hundred very dangerous miles away, and there are no more cars, trains or planes to get them there.
