Résumé

As a state cop Bags Morton shot his way out of a lot of bad situations. His gun was his hammer and bad guys his nails. Several wounded suspects later, he retires to a life of watching baseball, chasing broads and drinking beer. But he keeps getting dragged into bad situations. Like the day when one of those bad guys with a grudge kills his mechanic, then his barber and finally his veterinarian."Even if they don't like me, who kills a guy's mechanic?" He takes it upon himself to find out.
The manhunt intensifies as it becomes apparent his plumber may be the next target. And Bags loves his plumber, Samantha, his celibate soulmate. With three ex-wives, maybe four, and a plethora of parolees as suspects, Bags winds his way through the dive bars, strip joints and dark corners of western South Dakota looking in vain for somebody to shoot. His complicated love life proves to be a hindrance and a help along the way.
For Bags' reputation precedes him everywhere he turns. That reputation is of a man with no morals but unbending principles. Like, nobody messes with Bags Morton's friends, because he doesn't have many to lose.
