Résumé

Staff Sergeant David Webb awakened to a low rumbling roar in the distance and found himself stranded on a great flowing plain, his head still groggy from the ASF and wondering how he got there. He nearly stumbled as he stiffly rose to his feet, a by-product of irregularly thawing from the ASF, no doubt. Nor was there any doubt that bastard pilot, Roberto, had probably killed half the passengers, stole the ship, and stranded the survivors without reviving any of them.
In the distance, he heard a second animal-like bellow, not really a scream, more like a deep guttural noise piercing the surrounding silence. David's space marine uniform and all his weapons were gone, no blouse, no boots, nothing but his cotton underwear, not even a blade. This was not what he had planned and certainly not what he had volunteered for. He still had one hundred and fifty good service years left.
He was supposed to set up a temporary garrison with two-dozen handpicked soldiers and a dozen other mercenaries to guard a group of civilian space prisoners/colonists. He was not supposed to end up on a god-forsaken, barren plain on a prison planet ten light years from the emperor's furthest outpost. At least, he hoped he was on the prison world. No telling where Roberto had dropped them.

Biographie de Marvin Mark Stepp

Mark Stepp graduated college with double majors in journalism and education. His minors were professional writing, psychology, English, and math. He is SAP and OSHA certified, a certified systems engineer and database manager, a former financial adviser and tax adviser, and a certified sea captain (sail boats). His only complaint is being bored. He began his career as a reporter and photographer for Oklahoma County News Publishing.
His beat was the eastern half of Oklahoma County. He later became editor-in-chief for the Wewoka Daily Times. After leaving the Times, he took over publication of the Mayes County Chronicle and then went to work as the assistant city life editor for the Oklahoma Journal, a large daily covering Oklahoma City and the surrounding area. He has ghost written more than a dozen books. After the Journal went out of business, Stepp spent a few years as a freelance photographer for Globe Photos, an international stock photography company, before becoming the lead editor at Old American Publishing, specializing in hometown publications.
During that time he also worked as a technical editor for some of Houston's Fortune 100 companies, primarily creating publications for those companies. He spent 12 years with Schlumberger Oilfield Services as a senior technical writer/editor. He took an early retirement in 2017 to concentrate on writing novels. Today, he is CEO of Sunshine America video productions. As a businessman, Stepp has owned two weekly newspapers (Mayes County Chronicle and Harrah News); two printing companies (Presto Print and Astroprint); a property management company (Showcase Home Management); three vapor stores (Captain Vapor), and a publishing company (Old American Publishing).
He describes himself as a professional writer and businessman. He obtained his securities license in 1987, and has been active in the stock market since that time. Stepp has two daughters, one owns and operates a Pilates Studio in Texas, and the other is a book editor. He loves to travel and plans someday to officially retire in the Philippines. His wife, Cherry, works for a financial planning company in Oklahoma.
