In Saskatchewan in 1912 it is against the law for a white woman to work for a Chinese business owner. Widow Dorothy McMillian desperately needs money so she and her daughters can travel east to escape the harsh future her late husbands farm offers. Though they are breaking the law her daughters take jobs at a local Chinese restaurant.  Royal Northwest Mounted Police officer in charge, George Wellington, her late husband served with George in the Boer War, has asked to see her and she fears the worst.
Dorothy must confront a valued family friend and convince him of her plight. Will he listen?
