Résumé

When Yaema has to flee the war-ridden country of Sierra Leone, her life becomes torn into shreds of survival, desperation, and determination. She gets a rude awakening once she relocates to America - a land she's heard is full of beauty and promise. Her mother, Esther, has high expectations for Yaema. She depends on her daughter to make a decent living to help take care of her and her younger sisters, who live in Europe until the war dies down.
After failed relationships and betrayals by family members, Yaema crosses paths with the brother of an old flame, giving her hope once again after five years of heartbreak and setback. She finds herself in a dire situation and reaches out to him for help, only to find out that rescue in America can come at a brutal cost - all values tossed aside.
