E = mc2; Enlightenment equals consciousness and sub-consciousness squared. The essence of being/ the choice of will is made up of the conscious and subconscious of our minds. The conscious is what we are aware of at any particular moment, our present perceptions, memories, thoughts, fantasies, or what have you but the subconscious is our rage, anger, frustration, and oppressed feelings. Acting with the conscious mind and reacting with the subconscious mind is what one might today call "bi-polar "; one mind/ state of being divided by two.
We take in anything that can easily be made conscious, the memories you are not at the moment thinking about but can readily bring to mind and at the same time we ignore or separate subconscious thoughts or feelings. So in essence, we all have a "bi-polar" state of mind.
