In his early school days he found he had a need to write and write well, at least that was what his grade four teacher, Ms.
Joynt, told him. When he entered junior high and moved onto high school, John decided the writing life was what he wanted. So, with the support of a couple of his English teachers, he left town to study journalism at Belleville's Loyalist College. After graduating, John began working for his hometown newspaper - the Smiths Falls Record News. After a couple of years there, John left to freelance for the daily Ottawa Citizen before returning to Carleton Place, Ontario and the rigour of weekly news reporting.
In the early 1990's, John headed back to school, enrolling in the University of Ottawa's Communications program. He graduated in 1996 and that same year, he began working for Canada's federal government as a media relations officer. And although he has held different government positions during the last 14 years, his passion for writing never waned."About two years ago I decided the story of 'Cathedrals' had bounced around in my head long enough so I began to put some of my thoughts about plot, character development and overall themes and messages into my trusty WordPerfect program.
