1926. Imogene Taylor: horrifically scarred from an event she can't remember, she wanders the country after her mother's death, searching for employment. Josie Scott: a schoolteacher who prides herself on her devotion to the Bible, she searches for anyone who may be in need of help. They both find themselves at Samuel Hersch's sideshow, a small traveling company that's seen better days. Their troupe has to confront usual problems of the time-- rival sideshows, hostile townsfolk-- as well as unusual ones.
Because this sideshow employs genuinely supernatural acts...
