The world wasn't always shit. I know it's hard to believe sometimes. When the war machine is drilling in earshot or when the toxic rain has eaten through your clothes or when you're lighting the pyre under your loved ones, believing that this planet used to be something better, something beautiful, gets hard. Especially if, like me, you weren't around to see it. I only know because my old man told me stories when I was a kid.
Well, that's not entirely true. There were other ways I knew about it, but it was only because my old man told me that I actually believed it. He used to tell me there was a time when the wastelands and toxic expanse of No Man's Land were filled with lush green grass and the rain was cool and refreshing and didn't burn through your clothes and scar your skin. That was before my time, sure, but it's true.
And it wasn't that long ago, really. My old man saw it with his own eyes. Owen was born and raised to be a soldier, and he was determined to be a damned good one. Until things started to change. Dissension chronicles one man's search for his own identity in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by an unending war. Owen tells his own story - detailing all he knows, all he feels, and all he learns over time - trusting that even if he can't make a difference, there's someone out there that can.
