For four hundred years, Barakon has deceived the world into thinking he was human. Although he has had a successful career as a bard, in truth, if those he sang to knew what he was, they would attack him with swords and pikes. Humans fear dragons and magic. And one does not exist without the other. When Barakon is hired to write a heroic song about a knight's adventure, he discovers the knight is going on a hunt for a dragon. Barakon must find a way to save the dragon without revealing what he is. If he fails, it means the death of all of those he loves and a war he doesn't want.
