Résumé

Terrorists break four prisoners out of the cells at the International Criminal Court in The Hague who are standing trial under the Rome Statute. And they take three women hostage. The daughter of the US President is one. Another is Miss Denmark. When a wealthy Indian, who sponsors nearly half the movies produced in Bollywood, grew tired of all the beautiful young women who threw themselves at his feet he decided to create a dark web auction.
On this auction wealthy men all over the world could bid on beautiful young women and he would arrange for traffickers to abduct the bidder's choice and deliver her to the bidder. A deposit in Bitcoin of twenty-percent of the accepted bid price had to be put down and the full amount paid immediately prior to delivery. It is next to impossible to track an IP address on the dark web since the 'Onion Router' exists on overlay networks that use the Internet; and specific software, configurations, or authorization are required to access the address.
Rian Schröder, with the help of the FBI, hunted down the dark web auctioneer and bidder of the US President's daughter, as well as other bidders and delivered them to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to stand trial in terms of the Rome Statute, that is to prevent, suppress and punish trafficking in persons, especially women and children. Two of the bidders awaiting trial are Ahmed Muhammed Saleh al-Sayegh, an oil billionaire who finances a group of Islamic fundamentalists (US President's daughter), and Nkankwo Anajemba, an African war lord (Miss Denmark).
As a result of the women's exposure to a state of victimisation, depersonalisation, de-individualisation, degradation, and possible dehumanisation that can force victims to regress to fear, immature desires, and a state of personal isolation, the US President's daughter and Miss Denmark decided to come to visit their captors in The Hague in order to find closure. Meanwhile, the terrorists issue a press release in the name of their organisation that they helped the innocent prisoners to escape, because they maintain the prisoners were not responsible for the abductions ? they merely played the one-armed bandit.
However, since this is an act of terrorism and crimes against humanity the UN Security Council takes a unanimous decision that Rian Schröder should track the escapees down and apprehend them. Two other prisoners that Rian brought to stand trial under the same Statute are also set free by the terrorists. Colonel Ch'en Xue and Hsu Zhenxiang abducted Rian's sister and fiancé in order to blackmail him when he was investigating the disappearance of a satellite that was used to monitor rebel movements in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Since the satellite was used to protect the UN Peacekeeping Force the UN Security Council took a decision that Rian should investigate the disappearance of the satellite and duly appointed him a general in the UN Peacekeeping Force. Trafficking in persons shall mean the transportation, harbouring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, and of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of position of vulnerability or the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation.
The Rome Statute under which the ICC operates was adopted in November 2000 in Palermo, Sicily, by 120 members of the United Nations. The ICC is not an organ of the United Nations, although it maintains a relationship with the UN. Abduction or kidnapping classified as crimes against humanity has internationally become a serious offence.
