Résumé

In the fall of 1947, Sue Pickford took a moonlight stroll along the banks of the Brazos River. She never returned. Everyone in Comanche Springs, Texas believed that she fell in the river and drowned, except her boy friend, who suspected the town bully of foul play. Forty years later, Rita Fay Baker and David Cook are returning from Comanche Springs to College Station, when they are caught in a violent thunder storm.
A flash flood washes their car into Bull Hide Creek. Rota Fay is carried away by the flash flood. Agnes Pickford, Sue's aging mother finds Rita Fay on the bank of the Brazos. The old woman thinks the river has returned her long lost daughter. Agnes nurses Rita Fay back to health, but will not let Rita Fay return home. Rita Fay must find a way to avoid Sue's fate and return to David and her family.
