On October 9th, 1980, Portland, Oregon police arrived at A grim scene. A pretty young woman with soft facial features and dark brown, shoulder-length hair was found dead. She suffered from repeated stab wounds in her neck, as well as evidence of blunt force trauma, as if from a severe bludgeoning. The victim was Cherie Ayers, a twenty-nine year old woman who was found dead in her home. She was the first of a trail of bodies scattered throughout Oregon.
From October 1980 to the blistery winter of February 1981, a span of grisly murders would plague the rainy pacific northwest state of Oregon up and down the I-5 - or, the Highway of Hell. The culprit was dubbed "The I-5 Killer", leaving behind at least ten known victims. The identity of the killer turned out to be former 17th round draft pick for the Green Bay Packers, Randall Woodfield.
