The book of Genesis is essential to the understanding of all the other books of the Bible. Moses wrote the book of Genesis about 1500 years before Christ. Moses received the oracles directly from God. They were not handed down by word-of-mouth (Acts 7: 37, 38). God can just as easily tell a person the past as he can the future.
The book Genesis covers a time period of nearly 2500 years, from the Creation to the journey of Israel into Egypt.
