Sharon Oberne was nicknamed, "Pied Piper of Reading, " by Andy Fox, a television reporter for WAVY TV 10, for starting the Buddy Reading Club. At that time. she was a literacy specialist and wanted to motivate students to read. Her club was so successful that Mrs. Oberne received a Daily Point of Light Award from the Points of Light Foundation. Her handbook provides materials and suggestions on how to provide a wonderful reading experience for ALL elementary students.
