Sloane desperately tries to find her friend. Adrian helps her and she has to reluctantly take help from Rosalie - who she is jealous of because of her history with Adrian - and the rest of the shifters who follow her. But they're not the only ones in town. The dark figures that attacked Sloane are the Ice-shifters and old foes of Adrian and his pack of shifters. Adrian reveals to her that he didn't tell her the origins of Ironheart because he didn't want to hurt her.
Ironheart is a cursed person. Sloane admits that since she killed her sister in her womb and her parents hate her, that makes her a cursed person. Adrian and Rosalie reveal the truth behind the war's beginning and tell her that their worst nightmare Mathesan is near. They also reveal the identity of the cursed Queen who killed her brother to gain his throne only to vanish mysteriously after that. But her followers, lead by the now power-hungry Mathesan want to end the war once and for all and gain absolute power of over the dragon's throne.
Mathesan aka Matthew in his human form taunts Sloane to come save her best-friend. But it turns out that Sasha is unhurt and Matthew had her brainwashed. They are able to take Sasha away but Matthew reveals that he's not done yet. Sloane figures that he wants something from her, and that's why he had taken Sasha. At the college, a mysterious text from a friend lures Sloane to an empty theatre but Adrian arrives at the right moment and saves her again.
