The Roman Empire is one of the highest politicalaccomplishments in the Western civilization. Rome was almost lost in the medieval times but 15th and 16th centuries saw it gain its lost finery once again. From theSistine Chapel to the renowned St. Peter's Basilica, Renaissancearchitecture was in its full bloom.
Roman emperor, Charles Vcarried out a military coup - 'Sack of Rome', which disruptedthe growth of the city but the Papacy restated itself and thecity flourished once again. Rummaged by many political games in the 17th and 18thcentury, Rome is a now the capital of Italy and the LazioRegion.
