The World War II hadrepresented quite a unique and exceptional event during whichthe experience of suffering in the war had become quitecommon.
The entire devastation of the cities along with theslaughtering of the civilians had simply abolished the distinctionbetween the rear as well as the front line. The World Warbecame more familiar and was accepted as the natural part ofthe social as well as that of the political life. The history of theOttoman Empire demonstrates the common experiences of theCentral, Western as well as the Southeast Europe and putsthem in perspective of the brutality shown by the Balkans.
