Initially, where it had been pitch black, my eyes had gradually adjusted to the lack of light. Dirt caked the soles of my feet, wedging themselves between my toes, as I inched closer and closer to that magnetic pull, and further and further away from the safety of the door. Before I knew it, I was standing at the edge of what looked like a stone coffin. And the lid was mysteriously tilted off at an angle, leaving a gap open. Whatever was calling me sang me little lullabies, promised me happiness and luxury, if only I would put my hand into the coffin. I know, I know, I was being stupid, but I wasn't in my right mind.
Slowly, hesitantly, my hand reached out, as if of its own will, and slid into the coffin. Nothing happened for a long, aching moment. I breathed a sigh of relief, about to retract my hand. And then, something bony and leathery grabbed me, with surprising strength for how thin and narrow it felt. I screamed as it yanked me into the coffin, the lid clattering off with an ominous, echoing thud.
