Jessie Lee, a young New Zealand vet leaves urban Waikato to join her friend Hope Rigby in the alpine rural village of Glenorchy, Otago. When she takes up her new post as a remote on-call vet, she encounters animosity and prejudice from the male farmers who have lived in the area for decades. They resent having a female vet take over when their long-standing vet, Max retires. When Jessie struggles to gain the respect of the bullying farmers she realises the hard trials she endures will either make or break her.
