Résumé

Entertaining and moving kids'-eye take on the first Christmas - aimed at preteens, sneakily enjoyed by adults!Jamie had BIG dreams. He wanted to be a prince. He wanted his dad to marry a lovely young woman called Mary. He wanted an army of little brothers and sisters who would look up to him and think how clever and important he was. But at no point did he expect one of them to be a long-awaited king, destined to reign forever.
Nope. Not part of the plan... JOSEPH'S BOY is the first of The Young Testament, a fun, accessible series of full-length books on the Jesus story, with the children and young people as the main characters. "What an achievement - this book vividly inhabits biblical tales, but in modern language for young eyes reading now...  A fab and fun retelling of the New Testament in a way that I never thought possible...
an epic work, perfect for pre-teens... Highly recommended!"  Paul Kerensa, comedian, author & TV writer (NOT GOING OUT; MIRANDA; ROYAL VARIETY SHOW; TOP GEAR) "Joseph's Boy is the second book that I've read from L. R. Hay and like the first, I found it quirky, funny and immensely enjoyable. This is a book principally aimed at children, but honestly, it is a good read for any age...  a ripping yarn...
an inspired concept... intensely fascinating...  I am waiting for the next book with baited breath."  Grant Leishman, Goodreads Top Twenty reviewer "Brilliant for helping kids experience what it would have felt like to live in the time and place of Jesus, and follow the story as an adventure"  Justin Brierley, writer and broadcaster (Premier Radio; UNBELIEVABLE? podcast and book) "The author has a fantastic ability to draw the reader into the world of the characters...
The age range for this well written, biblically-based novel is preteens, but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it...  Overall, this story is superb and one that every age group would find interesting and hilarious."  Readers' Favorite "A delightful tale... biblical stories with a modern-day relevance...  a wonderful read for any middle grade and preteen reader...  I would also recommend it for parents and teachers who want to engage children in Bible stories from a brand new angle."  Readers' Favorite "Joseph's Boy is a story for all seasons and will keep you company with its engaging tone...  Jamie is irresistible...  I believe children will easily identify and will have a good time reading his adventures.
I highly recommend Joseph's Boy to all of them."  Readers' Favorite

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de L R Hay

Lynn Robertson Hay has a passion for storytelling - acting and writing since she was a child, and now professionally for over thirty years.  Her writing covers a number of episodes for BBC TV, plus film, audio and theatre - winning a Writers' Guild award for Best Children's Theatre. Jared Harris (CHERNOBYL, THE CROWN etc) and Nicholas Hamilton (IT) play the leads in BRAVE THE DARK, a feature film she was involved in writing. As an actor Lynn has played parts ranging from Lady Macbeth to Mole and Puck to Miss Prism.
Within the last few years she's been seen wielding a rolling pin as Flo Capp in ANDY CAPP - THE MUSICAL, made her West End debut understudying the mighty Stockard Channing in APOLOGIA and going on in that amazing lead role 8 times, and appeared in season 3 of crime drama UNFORGOTTEN for ITV. One-woman show REDEEMING FEATURES has played a variety of venues in the UK, US and elsewhere - tents; shopping malls; ornate Victorian theatres; cafes; streets; conference centres; a 10th birthday party; an 85th birthday party; a Swiss hotel that inspired Disney, Kipling and Scott Fitzgerald, and the only part of Glastonbury Abbey still standing (not her fault). You can see her reading many excerpts from her stories and answering children's questions about writing books on her YouTube channel, L R Hay. Lynn's claim to fame is that she once won an episode of TV quiz show FIFTEEN TO ONE.
