Miranda Lynch has been talking to ghosts for years, helping trapped souls move on and also assisting the FBI with murder cases. Her work has taken a toll, and what better way to relax and recharge than to take a vacation to a secluded mountain cabin. Bren Korbinian is the last of his kind, a raven-shifter who's accepted that the Korbinians' time is done. He will never have a wife and children - that life is not for him.
All he wants is to buy and raze the cabin down the road, so he can call the entire mountain his own. There are forces at work who don't want Miranda and Bren to come together, an organization whose mission is to destroy all those who have powers they deem evil. The members of this brotherhood are determined to see that Bren is the last of the Korbinian line, the end of the raven-kind.
