One-hit wonder Parker Davis has a chip on his shoulder the size of the gold-plated record hanging in his front hall. Confronted by ill health, a looming eviction, and a career that peaked in the '60s, Parker is thrust into a movement that pits him against big business, the Seattle police, the National Guard, and the Department of Homeland Security. His only hope comes from his hobbit-footed roommate with the possessed cat, his contemptible neighbor and her ghosts from girlfriends past, the leader of the Lighthouse Sanctification Church, her style-challenged daughter, and the attorney trying to kick Parker out of his home.
Then there are the Occupy folks and celebrity superstars and photographers and press and countless ninety-nine percenters, all ready to jump aboard the Parker Davis soul train. But all Parker wants is to drink whiskey and smoke weed and pop pills and reminisce about the good old days when he was dubbed the Boy Wonder for dethroning Elvis and making pop-chart history with his solid-gold sensation, "Last Stand."
