Résumé

The Meat & Potatoes of Plastic Injection Moulding Explanation & Guides to Troubleshooting. AT LAST! Evolution had to come. A basic Troubleshooting Card has been around for years, assisting diesetters and troubleshooters in getting around issues confronted in the Plastic Injection Moulding Industry. NOW! the ultimate Card has evolved which gives insights into the fix for particular faults, but also gives the reasons why this fault has occurred , what is happening within the mould and why the fix in place will counteract the fault.
This approach, not only helps newbies in the industry to understand the process and learn quicker, it also explains to the seasoned technician what is happening and why. Over the years I have entered a new workplace and encountered problems that only 'that technician' can fix. Productivity halts until 'that person' comes in and gets the process working again. I am sure most of you out there have come across these technicians that hold those secrets close to their chest.
When I ask these technicians why they make that particular adjustment, they typically reply 'that is how I always fix it' they typically cannot explain the how and why the fix works. This book counteracts those individuals who hold secrets close to their chest, not sharing with others, which in my opinion stifles the learning process. This book assists the learning curve of those technicians, which in-turn raises the level of knowledge in the industry, thereby counteracting the frustrations of , not only diesetters and technicians but also management in getting productivity up and running.
This book is the third in a series of explanatory books in the Plastics Injection Moulding field. It explains in great detail, the cause, the quick fix and in-depth explanation of each fundamental fault within the moulding of Plastic parts, it also includes at the end of the book, a quick rough guide to working out the Clamp Tonnage required for a moulding. It is more than just a Troubleshooting Card, within the boundaries of the book lies insights into Troubleshooting, the causes, the why's, how material flows through a mould and what you can do to influence it.
Although the book includes in-depth explanations on moulding faults and how to counteract them, it is not designed to explain a complete Die Trialing experience, it is taking for granted that the moulding process in question has been previously set up and ran successfully. It WILL, however, give a never before explained insight into what is happening within the process and what you can do to get back on track, in a basic 'easy to understand' language.
The Format of this book is such that, the rear page has a quick Ready Reference guide that quickly takes you to the fix required for the fault at hand, the book also includes an index at the front of the book which is referenced by the rear page, in that, the fix for the fault is explained, which in-turn hyperlinks to a full in-depth explanation further in the book. All this culminates in a complete reference guide to troubleshooting in the Plastic Injection moulding arena.

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Danny Kerridge

I have worked in plastics since August of 1984. Recently Retired. Covered all aspects of the Industry from Operating and 'what the operators have to put up with' through material handling prior to computers and calculators, which for some of you 'old salts' included the use and mix of dry powders as colouring. On to Die setting, which (for information) was where I felt the most comfortable. The reason for this is that I found when you put a tool into the machine from scratch, set it up run and troubleshot initial parameters you get to know how that tool ticks.
As opposed to being a Technician and walking behind the Diesetters correcting any faults. Yes it is true, with the knowledge already onboard by the Techs it doesn't take long to come to grips with the tool, I just found it more appealing to start on the front line and be a part of fixing issues at the ground level. Moving on... I spent a lot of time in the Technicians role including senior technician for a number of years, as a Team Leader (supervisor)position.
This position left me training and guiding technicians and diesetters more than dealing with the every day activities on the floor. For those in this position, there is always pressure to get "the hardest" jobs in and running, it always seems to be these jobs where guidance was required, which is where I came into my own. I have worked with multitudes of machines, multitudes of materials and experienced many different workplaces.
I hope the following guides assist those requiring a little extra explanation.
