It's 1847 in the wild frontier of Illinois. Attorney Abe Lincoln and his law partner William Herndon are hard-pressed to keep a young Irish immigrant lad out of jail on an attempted murder charge, despite the efforts of a corrupt sheriff to send him there and steal the young fellow's fiancé.
