Résumé

The word Psychology is derived from two Greek words, 'Psyche' meaning 'soul' and 'Logos' meaning 'science or studyof the subject'. Therefore, psychology is commonly defined asthe science of mind and soul. It considerably lays its focus overthe hidden processes and phenomena of human experienceand behavior. The studies of these behavioral processes arecarried out at individual, dyadic, group and organizational levels.
The study of mind and behavior is carried out by trainedprofessionals known as Psychologists whose work is to carryout the study of an individual's mental functions, socialbehavior, cognitive functions along with physiological andbiological processes. The psychologists are mainly classified as asocial, behavioral and cognitive psychologist. The psychologists make use of psychological knowledge andassessment techniques for solving problems of behavior andmind.
These professionals also aim towards understanding thecause of the problem and opts out for the best solution to theproblem. The mode of assessment can be through theinvolvement of psychologists in therapeutic role, counseling orclinical practicing. Psychology is considered to be a subject that can solve thevarious curiosities of a human's mind and nature and can evenprovide appropriate solutions to our various problems be itpersonal or problems within a large community ororganizational setting.
