Résumé

Mike Harding, a former British soldier retained by the Ministry of Defence as a deniable asset for covert operations, has recently returned from an assignment in Istanbul. Now enjoying a period of leave, he is glamping in a Suffolk forest. He is about to settle down for the night when something heavy crashes down through the forest canopy. Thinking an aircraft has crashed, Harding sets off to investigate.
What he finds are parachute cords snagged in the trees and small fires illuminating an illegal chemical weapon half embedded in the forest floor. He photographs the weapon and quickly makes his escape. Minutes later a team from the USAF Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron at a nearby US airbase arrive to recover the weapon and sanitise the area. When the officer in command of the team reports someone has already visited the site, an executive order is immediately issued to find and terminate that person before details of the incident reach the media.
Meanwhile three men claiming to be from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany arrive. They inform the base commander they have been sent to lead an investigation into the incident. They begin by issuing a press release falsely stating a UFO landed in the forest. Concerned he is being set up as a fall guy and doubting the three visitors are who they claim to be, the base commander decides to initiate an investigation of his own.
