Résumé

Paintings from a long-forgotten artist. A leaked confidential academic report. And a fake influencer. Is it possible that these three cases could be linked to the return of the criminal mastermind M'Oriarti?Back in the 90's, Monsieur Tamaz Oriarti was the toast of London. His firms name - San Marianne - was on the lips of everyone in The City; sponsoring all the best museum shows and art exhibitions, threatening a lawsuit on anyone who dared to criticise them, and all the while the cream of British politics and London society drove a path to his door.
What more proof of his success could a penniless Georgian orphan wish for? However, his downfall was as quick as his rise had been, and the colloquially known M'Oriarti found himself sentenced to twenty years in an Italian jail cell, convicted of the biggest corporate scandal of the decade. When he's finally released, he has but one goal. To seek revenge on those who brought him low. Death is too good for these people, M'Oriati wants to lay waste to their lives. While the team of famed investigative lawyer Stephen Holmes focus on solving these cases, Holmes himself looks towards the future.
The founding partners of Fothergill, Patricks and Havers are all seeking to retire, and therefore new investors must be found, and his own perilous financial issues must be resolved. Meanwhile, his long-term and loyal assistant Celine Hudson embraces her talent for investigating crimes in the art world, his young prodigy Eric Sutton goes undercover at a suspiciously profitable mining firm with a obtuse desire to go public, and forensic accountant Naomi Gibbon-Fraser hones her own particular investigative skills.
But as events unfold, and the cases are solved, it's Naomi who encourages the team to wonder. could all these seemingly unrelated events be linked? And exactly who did Holmes work for, before he joined F, P&H?Holmes and Watson, along with a full complement of friends and villains, return in the fourteenth book of the Holmes & Watson series. There are waiters dressed as shirtless, buff doctors, helicopter mothers of budding artists, and the return of M'Oriarti's greatest weapons, Irene Adler, and Sebastian Moran.
And amongst the many cases to solve, we still need to find out, would John Watson accept Holmes's proposal, and what in God's name is a Christougenniatikophile?
