Sedrick and Monty take on any client prepared to pay for their services. And when they are not working they do what other men do in Gansbaai. They sit around getting wasted, or they drive off with their fishing rods and a cooler box. Monty was one of the low-life angling fraternity Sedrick had fallen in with while he was shacked up with Avril the ball-breaker. They did not have much in common but kind of complemented each other.
Sedrick was an intellectual who read a great deal and spent a lot of time staring into space thinking about the meaning of existence, while Monty was about as bright as your average moron with a matric certificate, an ID and a driver's license, and was content to just exist. They got along just fine.
