What is distinctive is that while in most medical treatments the therapist tries to instill in the patient an almost blind certainty about the success of the cure, THE PSYCHOANALYST MUST WARN THEIR PATIENT OF THE LACK OF GUARANTEES OF SUCCESS ASSURED AND OF THE DIFFICULTIES THAT SHOULD BE OVERCOME TO OBTAIN PROGRESS.
