Résumé

Please note: This is a companion version & not the original book. Sample Book Insights: #1 Varus was a Roman general who commanded an army of eighteen thousand troops in 9 AD. He was marching to crush a rebellion in the northern part of the Roman Empire. He took no precautions in the marching order of his troops, since he expected to encounter no dangers until he reached the territory of the rebellious group. #2 The Roman army marched westward from its summer base near the Weser River, along the northern edge of the Wiehengebirge range of west-east running hills.
The track was well worn by the local peoples, but the Romans had difficulty marching six abreast in the narrow passages. #3 The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest was a huge disaster for the Romans. Varus and his army were ambushed by the Germanic tribes, and thousands of Romans were killed.
