The strategy works, somewhat. Taxpayers of your town pay instructors to teach you how to swim longer distances than the 500 yards needed to pass the SEAL Physical Screening Test, and to pull a drowning kid safely out of the deep end of an Olympic-sized pool, but you still feel less confident in the water than on your feet.
