When Douglas begins an affair with his stunning yet prim colleague, Nguyet, neither of them suspects how turbulent their liaison will become. Over the years, not only their intimacy and audacity grow, but also their susceptibility to temptation. On their journey of unbridled lust, they also meet others who are equally liable to sin, so that eventually even an orgy circle forms in their sleepy little town, in Central Vietnam.
In the first novella of this 55th volume, Douglas meets Mira, his young ex-colleague from the Philippines again, who has recently slipped into the role of his 18-year-old student, Sachiko. Just as she is charmingly indulging in her favorite pastime in the park, while he is filming her, another couple unexpectedly arrives at the old, vacant hotel. The sizzling tension that arises from the unusual situation, however, eventually transforms into sensual energy that lasts for the entire two hours.
As all four were a tad restrained during their previous encounter, Sachiko, Ly, Khoa, and Douglas himself decide to party really hard in the second episode. All senses are stimulated profusely, while the heat is periodically extinguished with living-room fountains. Last but not least, Sachiko brings her blind girlfriend, Yuki, to Douglas' apartment. Both young ladies are wearing the Red Badge of Courage, but that detail slips into the offing when Yuki needs to take a nap and Sachiko and Douglas discuss the nature of eroticism - before the three of them party hard again.
As varied as the episodes are, they all have one theme in common: Ultimately, they tell titillating tales of liberation from confining moral norms. All chapters are meant to entertain, amuse, and - in the best case - stimulate, without slipping into crudity. All light-hearted novellas are told in a very revealing, tongue-in-cheek manner and, in passing, also offer insights into Vietnamese culture.
Without taboos, all episodes explore the sources and dynamic of erotic desire and lure the reader under the spell of an exotic world. The author of this extensive series of ribald stories has been enjoying Southeast Asia for ten years now. After living in Germany and the U. S. for most of his life, Douglas ventured in the opposite direction in 2010: first, he taught at a community college in the South Seas for three years, before settling in Vietnam.
Naturally, his writing reflects his undying love for Southeast Asian women.
