"The Garnering, " by R. Hilary Adcock, is Book One of The Trilogy of Hope. The story begins when 'Vanishing Day' causes the sudden, global disappearance, of men, women, and children. Warnings of the 'vanishing' were prophesized, and preserved, in ancient texts, but were ignored as the population grew in number and apathy. Those who heeded the ancient words of warning 'vanished, ' and those who remain are thrown into chaos, as the Earth becomes a hunting field, with humans as prey.  A totalitarian entity, called Capitia, strives for world domination, using the power of a police force named Legion, whose soldiers are called Enforcers.   The reader will engage with Chet the trucker, Bruce the marine, and Ruby the nurse, as they face the challenges of survival, and the ever-increasing threat capture.
The innate desire for freedom, empowers many to rebel, while others flee and hide in hopes of survival.
