When first hearing the term "black power, " it tends to conjure the period of the 60's, and the political uphevals associted with it. A term that popularized by Stokely Carmichael, aka, Kwane Ture, it symbolized a rallying cry that went contrary to Martin Luther King's non-violent philosophy. Elijah Muhammad and the Nation of Islam on the other hand, had a very different understanding of the true meaning of Black Power.
