The human body is viewed as a complex entity composed of interconnected elements. In both scientific and Javanese traditions, there is a belief that the four main elements-fire, water, earth, and air-play a crucial role in shaping the body, mind, spirituality, and happiness. Achieving balance among these four elements is essential for attaining physical, mental, and spiritual health. This book explores the relationship of the four elements within the human body from three perspectives: scientific, Javanese cultural, and general viewpoints, and discusses methods for balancing these elements through Javanese practices, including rituals such as ngrowot, kungkum, ngluwang, patigeni, and fasting.
