"Hey, stop the bus, I want off here!" Shy Ann grabbed her backpack and camera case and stepped off the Shuttle Jack about fifty miles southeast of Santa Fe, along the Pecos River. She had seen the hikers trail from the road and felt that it was her path to freedom. The mountains that surrounded her seemed to say, stay, you are finally home. Shy Ann knew she wouldn't stay long, for her heart was impatient to return to Snow Feather's cabin.
Surrounding her were the snow top Rocky Mountains and the untarnished purple Checoma Mountains. The vegetation that consumed the area was enough that any animal or human could live off the land easily.
