Résumé

The Innocent Ones is a story about a woman who loved her daughter (Nina) so much that she unwittingly causes her daughter a lot of pain. She practically rejects all her suitors and the daughter is not given the chance to say a word about it. This resulted in two children, which were born out of wedlock. Before she dies, she marries off her daughter to a herbalist in exchange for money owed to him.
Musa, whose first wife Agi is believed to be infertile, takes in Nina as a second wife. He hopes that through Nina, he will have children of his own. He vows before the dying woman to take care of her daughter and her grandkids but before long, he throws this vow out of the window and treats the kids and their mother rather horribly. Nina, the victim of this change in attitude by Musa lives in agony throughout.
His two wives conceived at the same time, which marked the starting point of his discriminating love. They are later delivered of two male children and his hatred heightens. He later regrets treating the kids so badly. He sends one of the kids to school and the other to serve as a shepherd. There is further trouble in Musa's household after he is falsely accused and sent to prison. His family retires to the village upon his release.
Confusion sets in when Titus (Nina's brother), comes into play and brings her so much distress. Conflict, witchcraft, wickedness, envy and hatred skyrockets as Titus sets in with his selfish intentions. Titus cannot agree with Musa over the custody of the kids, as he persistently demands custody of them. Musa's initial resistance is short lived as witchcraft sets in and very unusual things start happening to the kids.
The kids are finally allowed to live with their uncle Titus. Dudu, who is successful in her exams, gets a scholarship to study medicine in the city. She ends up as a medical doctor and both families live happily ever after.
