Résumé

For eleven years I lived and studied the phenomenon that is the construction of self-loathing. I have learnt that we humans are inordinately powerful. Everything we are filled with-in our heads and our hearts-drives our actions, and all that we do in the world helps to shape a world we all share. Your mind is strong, resourceful, astonishing and magnificent. It is, in part, who you are, and it does matter what you decide to do with it.
I am deeply worried by our tendency to hide, supress and often repeat our emotional struggles, deeply affecting our own lives and those around us. I have committed my childhood, my education and my study to what I care about most: the behaviours and the fallout that come from our tendency to want a better life for ourselves, to want a better world to live in, yet be unable to let go of our pain to make it possible.
The Outsider's Inn calls us to break out of the socially constructed myth that we are not powerful enough to influence or impact upon our world. It is a mental health and suicide prevention early intervention effort that can build resilience, promote good mental health, create public awareness, provide information, encourage help-seeking, increase identification of people at risk and improve community strength and capacity around self-love and self-worth.
This is a resource for young adults to explore deeply important and often taboo subjects. It is an insight of great value for parents into the psychology and structure of the mind, and of the societies these minds create. It is a resource for general practitioners and counsellors to better understand and help their patients in emotional and psychological pain."Krista is a brave and insightful writer who draws on her own personal story that makes her book a powerful resource for her reader.
I believe her heartfelt words will help many individuals, couples, families and those working in the field of emotional health and wellbeing look at these complex life issues from a refreshingly new perspective. Congratulations Krista, your book is essential reading for anyone interested in understanding the wonderful resilience of the human spirit, even in the most seemingly dire of consequences." - Cynthia Morton, Author, Australian of the Year, Prime Minister's Award for Excellence, Pride of Australia Medal"Krista's treatment of this sensitive subject matter is inspired.
To complement her exhaustive research, she writes with great wit and a deep compassion that is informed by her own trials and tribulations, giving he an empathy and understanding for the subject that is hard to equal." - Dr George Blair-West, Psychiatrist, Author of The Way of The Quest

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Krista Fuller

As a singer, poet, writer, editor and lover of storytelling, I have been entranced by the power of language my whole life. How it is that our stories hold the history of human experience, with detail and meaning, across vast spans of time, is deeply fascinating to me. Twenty years of writing experience, a BA in psychology and philosophy and seven years researching how we humans make and break the connections between each other are the tools that I bring to each and every project I undertake.
I am the founder and event co-ordinator for the mental health and suicide prevention Breakfast, Expo and Comedy Gala Funny in the Head - an all day event of awareness raising, de-stigmatising and laughter focused on mental health and suicide prevention. My focus is on reframing our perception of suicide and mental health problems in a way that enables us to recognise them as social issues, not individual ones, and as issues that we can individually become empowered to do something about.
From my office in Northern New South Wales, Australia, I provide writing, editorial and proofreading services. With my background in music and psychology, writing, editing and proofreading is about much more than grammar. The written word has a bigger job than ever trying to put us in touch with all that we lose sense and sight of in the modern world.
