Obesity among citizens of the United States of America is at epidemic proportions. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), blacks of non-Hispanic ancestry have the highest age-adjusted rate of obesity of almost 50%, when compared with over 40% of Americans of Mexican heritage suffer from obesity.
Full Hispanics have an almost 50% rate of obesity, and almost 35% of non Hispanic whites suffer from obesity (JAMA, 2012, p. 307).
