Résumé

This book is an illustrated version of my great-grandfather's diary that Ted wrote when working as a surveyor on the 1878 Hayden Geophysical Survey of Yellowstone. I was able to associate some of the William Henry Jackson's photographs with Ted's references to Jackson taking the photograph. Ted named some of the lesser geysers and his name appears on numerous maps of the Yellowstone Basin. The original diary is at Yellowstone.
His journey began south of Jackson Hole and he passed the Grand Tetons on his way to Yellowstone. He later homesteaded outside of Red Lodge with Ginnie, one of the first settlor women to come to that area. Apparently, Ginnie asked Ted what he named after her. Ted then told her that he named Jenny Lake at Grand Teton NP after her. It's a story that he stuck to all his life. My Mom believed it all of hers. The lake was named after "Beaver Dick" Leigh's wife.

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Bruce D. Clark

I was born in state far away in the early 1950s while my father was getting his masters degree in geology. I spent my formative years in Indian and Spanish uranium boom towns in New Mexico. I went to high school in Oklahoma. I worked my way up in the oil field to be a supervisor of offshore operations on international assignment. I saved enough to pay for law school. I obtained two law degrees from Mc George School of Law.
I managed a policy unit for the State of California and provided guidance and instructions on compliance with federal and state healthcare initiatives. Retirement from that position allows me to pursue more enjoyable writing projects. I have a Facebook page where I can post high quality, color images. The email button works. If you see something you like and want to see a better version, I can post full size pictures to an album or send it by other means.
I'm willing to discuss providing photographs on professional grade photo papers or Giclée.
