When Sawyer walks to the park, he notices another guy, Duke, walking in the same direction as him. They were both headed to the park, it seemed. Sawyer feels a little awkward walking next to a stranger, but he didn't mind. He was lost in thought, thinking about his book, when he noticed the guy looking at him. "Hi, " the guy said. And that's how they got to know each other. After their chance encounter, the more time Sawyer and Duke spend together the closer they get.
