If you choose success over kindness, you won't reach your fullest potential. You should try to be both outspoken and understanding if you want to be the best you can be. If your goals scare you more than motivate you, you won't reach your fullest potential. You won't reach your fullest potential if your anger makes you focus on the things other people do wrong instead of the things you do wrong. You won't reach your full potential if all you ever talk about is other people and what you think of them.
If the direction you are trying to go is closer to your comfort zone than anything else, you are not reaching your full potential.
